HELEN ROWAN Helen Diane Rowan (nee Bryson) passed away on October 4th, 2008 at age 75. Predeceased by her parents Norvil and Susan, and her brother Gary; she is survived by her husband John, brother Keith Bryson, children Gary and his wife Sue, Mark and his wife Maureen Lundell, Susan and her husband Paul Dickenson; grandchildren Luke, Matt, Max, Kate, and Robyn Dickenson. Born in Vancouver, Helen spent her childhood in Lillooet, and started her family in Kamloops, before settling in Vancouver. While raising a family, she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at SFU, and then pursued her love of books and learning, as a librarian after completing the UBC Bachelor of Library Science degree in 1969. She maintained a wide circle of friends from all walks of life, and was sought out by many for her forthright and wise counsel. In midlife she became an avid outdoors person, enjoying cross country skiing, kayaking, bird watching, camping, and in particular, hiking. However, her greatest passion was travel with family and friends. She spanned the globe, criss-crossing Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle-East, Africa, and the Americas. Helen’s positive outlook and determination will be remembered by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. A Celebration of Helen’s Life will be held Saturday, October 18th, 2008, 6:00-9:00 P.M., in the family apartment. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society. Helen, we will truly miss you and the influence you had on all of our lives, but you will never leave our hearts
