OLIVER JOSEPH (JOE) ARMISHAW It is with great sadness that, after a long courageous battle with cancer, we announce the passing of Joe Armishaw. Joe went to be with the Lord on November 16, 2008 at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice House. Joe was predeceased by sons Don and Ken, his brother Eric, sister June and parents Joseph and Moosomina. Joe leaves behind to mourn, his loving wife of 63 years, Peggy, his grandchildren Mark (Holly) of Edmonton, AB, Trisha (Rick) Dux of Sylvan Lake, AB and Ryan (Kartini) of Edmonton, AB. His great grandchildren Tyson, Ethan, Brayden, Kiera, Isis, and Little Joe. Relatives George and Tess Braman of Westbank, David and Jean Joseph of Swanage, England and David Armishaw of London, England. Joe was born in Vanderhoof, B.C. on September 2, 1923. He grew up in the area until he was eighteen. He then joined the RCAF and became a pilot instructor. It was while he was in the Air Force that he met and married the love of his life, Peggy, who was also in the RCAF. After the war Joe was employed by the CN Railway in Kamloops. It was here that they built their first house, and where their two sons Don and Ken were born. In 1957 Joe got a job with Indian and Northern Affairs. A job that took him to Vanderhoof, Merritt, Williams Lake and eventually to Whitehorse, Yukon. After many years in the Yukon, Joe and the family moved back to Kamloops and in 1967 purchased 19 Mile Ranch in Barnhartvale. In 2003 because of failing health Joe and Peg left the ranch and moved into town. They lived at Berwick on the Park, the Renaissance, and finally at Erin Valley Lodge. The family would like to thank Dr. Waller and the tremendous nurses at the Hospice House for the great care of Joe in his final days. A memorial service for Joe will be held at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Monte Creek at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 1st with the Rev. Don Wooten officiating.
