JOSEPH HARRIS HEWKO Joseph Harris Hewko passed away at the Victoria Hospital on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at the age of 85 years. He was born on November 21, 1924 in Prince Albert, SK. Joe worked for his entire career with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. His positions took him across Canada from British Columbia to Labrador. The last 20 years of his career were as a CIBC Bank Manager in Toronto, ON. Upon his retirement he returned to Prince Albert where he has resided with his sister Eleanor. Joe enjoyed reading the Globe and Mail and following world events. He was a faithful member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and spent many enjoyable hours with his family. Joe is survived by his loving family: his brothers Edward Hewko and David Hewko of Prince Albert; his sisters Mary (John) Litwin of Leduc, AB and Eleanor Simonson of Prince Albert. Joe also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins in Canada and the United States. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Joe was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Bernice Hewko; his brother Stanley Hewko and his sisters Alice Smith and Helen Hewko; his brothers-in-law Albert Smith and George Simonson and a nephew Tony Litwin. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2010 from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 260 – 25 Street East by The Reverend Father Matthew Nguyen. Interment will take place in the South Hill Cemetery. It is the family’s request that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Victoria Hospital Foundation.
