John C. Basiletti, age 85, formerly a resident of Winfield, Illinois, for 38 years, died December 3, 2008, surrounded by his loving children. John was the father of Mari (JoDee Samuelson), Mark (Susan Makela), Chris (Tina Tucker), Patricia Peterson, Vicki (Steve) Dapolito, Janice (Faan Hoan Liu) and Matthew (Karen); grandfather of Daniel, Robyn, Anthony, Ryan, Elise, Elena, April, Aaron, Justin, Laura, Tamara and Cassandra; great-grandfather of Jean, Julian and Jackson. John was preceded in death by his daughter Roberta in 1978 and wife Naomi in 2006. John has one brother, Pokey (Venanzio) (Valeria) Basiletti, who resides in Urichsville, Ohio. John made a difference in the lives of many people. His outgoing, friendly personality and generosity will always be remembered by those he touched. A mass in celebration of John’s life was held on Friday, December 5, at St. John the Baptist Church, Winfield, IL.
