FRANCES A. MALLACH It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Fran, on January 14, 2009 at the age of 79. Mom is survived by her daughter, Tanis, husband Mark, grandchildren Nick, Jeff and Ben, and her son, Jason, wife Myleen and grandchildren, Zoe and Denzer. Fran was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Roy, and her middle son, Kyle. Born November 4, 1929, raised in Kamloops with her siblings, Phyl, Berta and Dick, Fran completed her RN training in 1951. She loved working in the operating room as a surgical nurse and met very special people who remained friends for the rest of her life. Fran met Roy, the prairie lad from Saskatchewan and they were married in July 1953. Fran stopped working to raise us and was always there for us when we needed her. She was active with the school parents auxiliary, the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Red Cross. Happy memories for us are living on the Thompson River, houseboating, skiing and Sunday drives. The family would like to thank the staff of McKinney Place in Oliver for the compassionate care they provided for mom during her last years. She said she was very content there and loved watching the world go by through her window. We know Mom is at peace and like to think that she is back with Dad now. A Celebration of Mom's Life will take place in Kamloops in July 2009. Family and friends will be notified of the time and place and are welcome to join Tanis and Jason in remembering Fran.
