It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of a special sister and best friend. Mary Frances Beaton, known affectionately to us as Frankie, passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010.
Born on March 15, 1943 in Lingan, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Georgina (Seymore) Burke. Frankie was a member of St. Anne’s Church. She had great faith and always kept her family and friends in her thoughts and prayers. She will always be remembered as a kind and gentle lady.
Frankie will be sadly missed by brothers, Eddy (Sharon), Mike (Shelia), Glace Bay, Richard (Emerance), New Waterford, sister, Kaye Royal, Glace Bay, special niece, Linda Burke, Glace Bay. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Greggie, sister, Carmella and a sister, Nellie, in infancy.
In honouring Frankie’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A private family service will be held and interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lingan at a later date.
Donations in Frankie’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
