JOHN HUM. On Saturday, February 14, 2009 John Hum of Kamloops, B.C. passed away at the age of 82 years. John was born in Paks, Hungary on November 24, 1926. When he was five months old he immigrated to Canada with his family. They moved around in the Prairies for a few years and settled in Warburg, Alberta where he grew up. John was a member of the Knight's of Columbus and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church Parish. He is survived by his son Ken (Maria) Hum of Kamloops and his daughter Lorena (Ed) Betemps of Burns Lake, B.C. He also leaves to cherish his memory five grandsons: Christopher, Daniel, Travis, Rene and David; his sister Violet Hoffman of Edmonton, Alberta, his two brothers Frank Hum of Warburg, Alberta and Mike Hum of Port Moody, B.C. and numerous nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth in 1995, his parents Joseph and Teresa, brothers Joe and Phil, sisters Mary, Margaret and Teresa, nephews Robert and Barry and niece Linda. Prayers will be recited at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. The Reverend Father Peter Nguyen will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at the church on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the family plot, Hillside Cemetery. Should friends desire, donations to the Kamloops Hospice Association, 72 Whiteshield Crescent S., Kamloops, B.C. V2E 2S9 in memory of John would be appreciated.
