HERBERT HARGREAVES.Herbert (Herb) Hargreaves passed away peacefully with his loving wife Linda holding his hand, on Monday, February 16, 2009 at the age of 79. Herb will be lovingly remembered by his wife Linda of 53 years, daughter Iris (Rob) and son Glen (Cindy). Also left with precious memories of Grandpa are his grandchildren Krystal, David and Sara, and great-grandchildren, Shania, Dillon and Ashley; and his brother Len (Bea). Herb was pre-deceased by his sister Laura, and son Earl. Herb was born on August 27, 1929 in Vanderhoof (Hulatt), British Columbia to Charles and Nellie Hargreaves. He grew up in Vanderhoof, British Columbia, moving to Kamloops, British Columbia in 1951. Herb and Linda (nee Gough) were married May 20, 1955 in Kamloops. He enjoyed a long career as a mechanic retiring from Kamloops School Board #24 in 1989. After his retirement Herb and Linda often traveled to Vancouver Island to enjoy salmon fishing, and visiting with friends. Herb will be fondly remembered for his kind and generous spirit, always helping those in need. Herb and Linda spent many years as volunteers at Ponderosa Lodge, bringing joy and smiles. The family would like thank Dr. Collier, Dr. Rollheiser and Dr. Zsigmond, as well as the nursing staff at Royal Inland Hospital for their kindness and care. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 23, 2009 in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel, 285 Fortune Drive. Viewing will take place prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. in the Rosewood Room at Kamloops Funeral Home. Donations in memory of Herb may be made to the B.C. Parkinson's Disease Association, 411 Dunsmuir St., Vancouver, B.C. V6B 1X4, in lieu of flowers.
