The death occurred at home on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, of Leigh J. Simmons of Lions Drive, Kensington, aged 96 years. Veteran of World War 2. Born in Belmont Lot 16 on Oct. 4, 1915, son of the late Arthur and Gertrude (Breen) Simmons. Husband of Chrissie J. (MacLeod) Simmons. Father of Joan (Wayne) Enman, Walter (Susan) Simmons and Marshall (Cathy) Simmons. Grandfather to Andrew, Steven, Heather, Jennifer, Andrew and Breagh. Great-grandfather to Shelby, Natalie, Riley, Brielle and Lucy. Brother Wallace (Jean) Simmons, Dorothy Boisvenue (Roger deceased), and Betty (Paul) Muggah. Brother-in-law of Irene MacLeod, Donald (Beryl) MacLeod and Jean (Roscoe) Pendleton. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his first wife Lena Chappell, sisters Henrietta and John Ryan, Virginia and Nelson MacKay, Wanda and Larry Mendelson. Resting at the Davison Funeral Home, Kensington, for visitation on Wednesday evening from 6-8. Funeral Thursday in the Davison Funeral Home Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Interment in the South Granville Cemetery. Comrades of Branch #5 Royal Canadian Legion, Summerside, will hold a service of remembrance at the funeral home Wednesday at 5:45 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined. If so desired contributions may be made to the South Granville Cemetery Fund.
