MATTHEWS, GLORIA FAYE - 1938 - 2012 - Gloria Faye Matthews of Riverview, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, at The Moncton Hospital. Earlier that morning, she was at the bedside of her failing mother, (Inez Colpitts) at Monarch Hall, who later passed away the following day and went to be with her daughter. Gloria was a wonderful woman who was very active and found much joy in life. Having a passion like no other for her home garden, an avid hockey fan, especially in her support of our Wildcats, her heart thrived on giving to others as she enjoyed volunteering much of her time to several organizations such as the Capital Theatre, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, her involvement with the Liberal Party (both provincially and federally), and of course her church, Colpitts Settlement United. She will forever be in the hearts of her husband, David, daughters, Sue of Colpitts Settlement; Michele of Dartmouth; sons, Geoff (Julie) of Quispamsis; Greg (Nancy) of Riverview; sister, Nancy Colpitts (Steve Campbell) of Halifax; brothers, Roger (Pauline) of Colpitts Settlement; Wayne (Reta) of Fredericton; and grandchildren, Jack, Kate, Claire and Nora.
The family will be receiving friends and relatives at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview, NB., (869-2007) on Saturday from 1 to 4pm. The funeral service will take place from Colpitts Settlement United Church on Sunday, July 29, 2012 at 2pm with Rev. Danny Compton officiating. The interment will follow at Colpitts Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Colpitts Community Cemetery or a Memorial of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
