Arno Emanuel Eliason of Kamloops, BC, went home in the loving arms of his Lord on January 5, 2010, at 90 years of age.

He is survived by his wife Gladys of Maple Ridge, BC, children Marilyn (Rick) Nelson, David (Elma) Eliason and Wendy Eliason (John Padze), son-in-law Tom Mendel, grandchildren Michael (Kelly) Nelson, Michelle Nelson, Timothy (Leigh) Eliason, Erika (Paul Parsons), Gregory Eliason, Joseph (Diana) Mendel, Marshall (Kristy) Mendel and Matthew Mendel; great grandchildren Sydney, Ava, Brett, and Connor as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Arno was predeceased by daughter Judy in June 2007, his parents Carl and Beda Eliason, sister Grace Eklund and brothers Newton and Edgar Eliason.

Arno was born on January 2, 1920 at a farm house in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. He was the youngest of four children born to Carl and Beda Eliason. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1944-1945. Arno and Gladys were married in 1945. He was employed by CPA as a Radio Technician, leaving for BC Hydro in 1950. Arno retired in 1980 after a fulfilling 30 year career with BC Hydro. He lived 42 years in Kamloops, enjoying numerous outdoor activities, camping and fishing. Arno was a devoted and caring family man, uncle, and friend to all. He was also very devoted to his church, teaching Sunday School, volunteering and helping in any way he could.

A private Graveside Service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Burnaby at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 12, 2010.

A Memorial Service in Arno’s memory will take place on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in the Kamloops Alliance Church, 233 Fortune Drive, with Pastor Larry Boss officiating.
