James "Jim"  Dunn

August 10, 1936 - July 28, 2012

It is with great sadness that the family of James Dunn announce his sudden passing at the Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at the age of 75, following a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Beloved husband of Betty Ann (nee Millar), much loved father of Dale (Kikki) of Sweden and Shelly (Eric) of Ottawa. Dearly loved brother of Margaret Dunn of Dartmouth, NS. Predeceased by his sister Dorothy and brothers Thomas and Alfred. He will be dearly missed by many other relatives, friends and "Zak." Jim joined the RCMP in 1957 and was a proud member for 37 years, serving at various detachments in P.E.I. before transferring to HQ in Ottawa. Over the years he was a leader in Cubs and Scouts and was active in sports, coaching hockey and baseball. After retirement he pursued his hobby of genealogy and was a loyal Sens fan. Visitation at McEvoy Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, August 4, 2012. Memorial Service to follow in the chapel at 12 noon. Private interment at Beechwood Cemetery. In memoriam donations to Parkinson's Research Consortium c/o The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute or the Perley Rideau Foundation would be appreciated. The family would like to thank the staff of Ottawa 1 West at PRVHC for their compassionate care, especially Ami, who provided exceptional support and comfort to Jim during his stay there.
