Born in Beaver Harbour, NB, he enlisted in the army at 19 years of age. After his discharge in 1945 he attended Dalhousie University and NS Technical College to obtain his degree in Civil Engineering. During that time he met and married Jean Findlay. In Moncton he was involved in several service groups including Legion and Probus, and was a member of St. Georges Anglican Church. He was a Past Master of Acacia Lodge #49 and a member of Frank H. Tingley Order of the Eastern Star. He was a member of the Moncton Shrine Club, Luxor Temple Shriners and a long-time member of the Luxor Temple Oriental Band. Larry was the consummate handyman, always happy to share his knowledge and abilities with neighbours, family and friends. He was a familiar sight at the Pointe-du-Chene family cottage, as he strode towards the beach with his mask, snorkel and clam bag in hand. He and Jean enjoyed their winters in Florida, and had a rich life entertaining friends with bridge parties and homemade wine. Even in his 90’s he was a formidable bridge player. Left to mourn are Janet (John) Trites, Berwick, NS, Betty (Chuck) Steeves, Pointe-du-Chene, NB, and Phyllis (Richard) Bennett, Middleton, NS.
