(October 4, 1956 - July 31, 2012) — James (Jim) Conway passed peacefully away after a short yet courageous fight against lung cancer at Placentia Health Centre on July 31st, 2012 - James Douglas Walter Conway of Placentia aged 55 years. Surrounded by his loving and devoted family, Jim fought until the end with his wife Myra of 40 years by his side. No truer love has ever been known. Predeceased by his father James Conway of Detroit, USA in 1983, mother Theresa Conway (nee Flynn) of Placentia in 2005, brothers David in 1970 and Paul in 2010, and second parents Ned Griffin of Freshwater in 2002 and Theresa Griffin (nee Kelly) in 2003. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Myra, beloved daughters Megan (Darcy) and Teigan (Billy), two beautiful grandchildren Sydney and Nicholas; sisters Dwana Conway, Sandra Walsh (Jack), Pamela Conway, Joanne Conway-Brewer (Melvin); sister-in-law Harriet Powell (Barry); brothers Ray (Ester), Doug (Debbie), Darrell (Leeanne); brother-in-law Greg Griffin (Lynn), a large circle of nieces and nephews and several wonderful friends. Jim also leaves behind caring and supportive colleagues at the College of the North Atlantic Seal Cove Campus. Jim was an accomplished electrician, beloved teacher and musician, and lived life to the fullest. Resting at Maher's Funeral Home, Placentia, with visitation from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, August 2nd and 3rd. Funeral mass will take place at Holy Rosary Church, Freshwater, on Saturday, August 4th at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at the Dermot McGettigan Memorial Cemetery in Southeast Placentia.
