DECICCO Lorenzo DeCicco passed away peacefully on March 7, 2009 surrounded by his family. Lorenzo was born on August 10, 1922 in Sannicandro Di Bari, Italy. He moved to Kamloops in March of 1959 and his family followed on Christmas Eve of the same year. Lorenzo worked as a cement finisher on buildings such as the Royal Inland Hospital and the Coast Canadian Inn. He eventually got a job with the City of Kamloops in the parks horticulture department where he was able to do what he loved. He retired in 1980 so he could focus on his passions of wine-making and gardening. His family was the most important aspect of his life and he was always very proud of the accomplishments of each and every one of his children and grandchildren. He will be forever missed by his wife of 65 years, Carmela, his sons John (Darlene) and Nick (Linda), his daughters Dora (Ralph) Sherbo and Mary (August) Scerbo, his grandchildren Debbie (Trevor) Bonderud, Lorenzo (Michelle), Lisa (Scott) Galloway, Mike (Deanna), Jason Scerbo, Tom (Hannah) Sherbo, Carmela (Ben), Anthony, Olivia and Rebecca, eleven great grandchildren, his sister Gemma Abbrusci of Vancouver and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Domenico, his parents Domenica and Giovanni, brothers Nicola, Giovanni, Leonardo and Michele, and sisters Pascqualina Magistrale, Giacoma DiGeso and Maria DeCicco. Prayers will be recited on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at 7:00 P.M. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. The Reverend Father Peter Nguyen will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at the church on Friday, March 13, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. Entombment will follow at Sage Valley Mausoleum, Hillside Cemetery.
