MacLAUGHLIN, LOLA ELIZABETH March 1, 1952 - March 6, 2009 Lola passed away peacefully at home early Friday morning after a four year struggle with Ovarian cancer. She is survived by her loving husband Tony Giacinti, sisters Jo (Vern) Barrett, Rosalind (Don) LeComte, brother Jim (Sharon) MacLaughlin. Nephews Terry (Anja), Doug (Josie), Trevor and Graham. Nieces Michelle (Ryan), Stephanie (Scott). Great-nephews Benjamin, Logan, Dominic and Dexter. Great-niece Casey. Sister-in-law Geraldine (Chris) Dunn, nephews Michael (Wendy), Paul (Maureen), Niece Michelle (Mike). Great-nieces and nephews Sarah, Jessica, Ben, Tyler, Natalie and Cameron. Lola grew up in Osoyoos where she lived an idyllic life at the lake. Later she moved to Kamloops, graduating from Kamloops Secondary School in 1970. Then on to Vancouver where she studied biology and psychology at UBC where she later obtained a M.A. in psychology. Her passion, however, was dance which she studied at SFU and Berliner Freier Universitat. As a founding member of EDAM and later Lola Dance, she has left a memorable legacy and influence in that community. A legacy fund in Lola's name to support emerging choreography will be announced at a celebration of Lola's life at a later date. A traditional Orthodox Christian service was held at Holy Trinity Church, 710 Campbell Avenue in Vancouver on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Father Sergel Ouvert and Reverend Father John Adams officiating. Interment following at Capilano View Cemetery in West Vancouver
