Passed in: British Columbia, Canada
WALTER ARTHUR JAMES JORGENSEN 1912 - 2009 After a long life well lived, Walter passed away peacefully at Lynn Valley Care Centre, March 17, 2009, after a very brief illness. Born in London, England on November 18, 1912, living there until 1953 when he immigrated with his family to Vancouver, Canada. He was an employee of Woodwards both in Vancouver and Kamloops until his retirement in 1973. For 31 years, he lived at Paul Lake, Kamloops before moving to The Summerhill Retirement Home in North Vancouver in 2004, where he enjoyed being closer to his daughter. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Wendy Alden (Jorgensen), brother, Cyril, nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada, England and Australia. He made many friends over the years and appreciated the long distance friendships which continued after his move to North Vancouver: Barry & Edith, Norman and Margaret. Walter enjoyed listening to music, especially Vera Lynn, and spent many hours listening to "The old songs." In recent years with failing eyesight, as an avid reader, he appreciated having someone read to him about topics of interest to him and stories about pets and animals. A special dog volunteer visitor, Arielle, brought him much joy. Special thanks to Dr. Garry Feinstadt who was always attentive and kind to Walter after his move to North Vancouver. Also, thanks to Dr. Bell Irving for her 'in house' visits and care. In respect for his wishes, no service will be held. Cards may be sent to Wendy Alden, c/o Loving Memories Funeral Services, 38121 Second Avenue, P.O. Box 2450, Squamish, B.C. V0N 3G0 or to Wendy's home address. No flowers by request and instead donations to a local S.P.C.A. would be appreciated. <B> 'Walter's star now shines brightly
