It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Elizabeth MacNeil on Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at home with her daughters, Cathy and Margaret Anne; also with her was her grandchildren, Evelyn and Michael.
Born in Glace Bay on Jan. 7, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Baptiste and Mary Catherine (McNeil) Boutilier.
Mary was an avid guitar player and singer for her family and friends. She focused on the bright side of life; always had a nice word to say and her family always came first.
She is survived by her daughters, Cathy (Kenneth) Mercer, Corrine (Leslie) Mosher, Margaret Anne (Michael) Doyle and sons, Joseph (Rose), Melvin (Joanne) and little Joe (Carol Ann); grandchildren, Michael, Evelyn, Jeanette, David, Jonathan, Leslie, Melvin and Natasha. Also surviving are sisters, Catherine (John) Hart, Marie (Colin) MacDonald and Annie Doucette; brothers, John (Loretta) Boutilier and Bernie. She will also be missed by her beloved dog, Tiny.
Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Matthew, daughter, Wanda, sons, Peter and John in infancy, a baby at birth and her brother, Daniel Boutilier.
The family would like to thank sons-in-law, Kenneth and Michael along with niece, Karen Hart who were a constant source of love and support. Also, by a special little boy named Colton who called her nanny, whom she loved very much. Mary was loved by all who knew her. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me.
I hope you will realize,
My pain at last is free.
Miss me a little, but not too long;
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared;
Miss me but let me go
For this is a journey that we all must take;
And each must go alone.
It’s all a part of the Master’s Plan,
A step on the road to home.
