The death occurred at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Monday, December 1, 2008, of Irene Gallant, wife of the late Leo Joseph Gallant of Rustico, age 92. Irene was the cherished mother of Lorraine Gay, Shirley (Dougie) Cook and Maureen (Gordon) Mills. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Kevin, Charlene and Ronnie Gay; Dean and Darren Cook; and Wade, Rachel, Elvis, Ryan and Collin MacIntyre; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Irene is survived by her brother, Leo Gallant (Theresa Blacquiere) and sister, Millie Gallant. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Nazerene (Doiron) Gallant; son, Ronnie; daughter, Carol Anne; son-in-law, Austin Gay; sister, Martha (Bobby Gallant); and brothers, Alyre and Elliott (Muriel) Gallant. Resting at Central Queen's Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, P.E.I. for visitation on Wednesday, December 3 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, Rustico, on Thursday, December 4, at 10 a.m. Interment in the church cemetery.
