Elizabeth (Liz) Clarke nee Alexander wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and special friend to many, passed peacefully at home in the early morning of August 11, 2012 following a long and determined battle with cancer.
Liz was born June 11, 1945 in Vancouver. Her family moved to Comox in 1958. Liz graduated from Courtenay High School in 1963. In the year that followed she met the love of her life, young Barrie Clarke of Victoria. They were married in Comox in October 1964. The Clarkes were blessed with two children Glenn and Shannon. The family lived in numerous places in BC, finally settling in Kamloops in 1980.
Liz loved swimming, hiking, curling, playing bridge, and especially golf. Through these activities she made friends for life. Barrie and Liz worked together for more 10 years to build Wells Gray Golf Resort which they operated for 16 years.
Liz is survived by her loving husband, Barrie, son Glenn (Rhonda) their daughter Callie, granddaughters Roxanne and Trisha Smillie, sister Margot (Chris) Parr, brother-in-law Bob (Hilda) Clarke, sisters-in-law Betty (Art) Gould and Babs (Bill) Cousens as well as five nephews, four nieces.
Liz was predeceased by her daughter Shannon and son-in-law Rod Smillie.
A Celebration of her Life will be held on Monday, August 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Dinner Theatre Room at the Coast Hotel Kamloops Convention Centre, 1250 Rogers Way, Kamloops.
