It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Diane Grant, 63, of New Waterford on Tuesday, Aug.14, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Toronto and raised in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of Doris (Donovan) Marshall, Windsor, N.S. and the late James Henry Marshall.
Diane was a member of the former Mount Carmel Church, currently the Parish Church of St. Leonard. She loved spending time with family and friends and dedicated her life to her three children. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo and thoroughly loved her surroundings at her residence on Curran Street; the people and sense of community were very uplifting to her.
Surviving are daughters, Kim, Dartmouth, Doris (Nathaniel), Halifax, and their son, Cameron, who was Diane’s pride and joy; son, Shane Grant, Halifax; brothers, Greg (Jackie Lowe), Greenwood, Dougie (Bonnie), Bruce (Sheri), both of Glace Bay, Bill (Lydia), Sydney; sister, Tracy (Leslie) Jillett, Windsor, N.S.; nieces and nephews, Rebecca, Natalie, Amber, Michael, Kyle, Danielle, Kristopher, Kaitlyn, Luke, Ryan, Adam; best friend, Venie Drover.
Besides her father, Diane was predeceased by a nephew, Timmy.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Friday from 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Saturday, Aug. 18 at 2 p.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Jim Oliver officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Carmel Centre.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the IWK Health Centre Foundation.
