ISABEL OWEN/BELL (nee Edgar) Isabel was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on January 19, 1918 and she passed away June 19, 2009. She was predeceased by husbands Roy D. Bell and Maurice M. Owen, her parents, James and Isabel Edgar, her Special Aunt and Uncle, Bess and George Whyte, her brother Henry Edgar, sister, Marian Smith and special cousin Don Whyte. She is survived by her sister, June Loftus; daughter, Laurie Scott (John); granddaughters Robyn (Dave); Theresa (Hugh); Jennifer and Stephanie and great grandson James; son, Gordon Bell (Melinda); grandsons Martin (Juliet), Brandon (Michelle); Jarrod and great-grandchildren Isaac, Ethan, Eliza and Juliana; son George Bell (Cheryl); grandsons, Jason and Michael, step-children, Nathan, Paul, Mathew, Azeph, and Mandy and special cousin Douglas Whyte (Lea) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by stepsons Trevor (Deloras) Owen, Murray (Pat) Owen, and Richard (Valerie) Owen, stepdaughters Janice (Don) Inglis, Maureen (Al) Simpson, Heather (Dennis) Seminuk, Elaine (John) Moon and AnnMarie (Rob) Hunter and their families. Isabel grew up in Vernon and Kamloops and graduated from Kamloops Secondary School. She was a graduate of the Royal Inland School of Nursing, class of 1940. She worked as head nurse at RIH as well as Tranquille. She enjoyed curling, was an avid Blazers fan and treasured Mondays with her bridge ladies. She has many friends from the Manor House on 360 Battle Street, where she resided for 15 years. Isabel had many wonderful summers at Little Shuswap Lake and Heffley Lake, swimming, cross country skiing and watching squirrels and hummingbirds with family and friends. Her travels over the years took her to Europe, Africa, South America, North America and Hawaii. Isabel was an inspirational caregiver admired, respected and appreciated by many. Isabel wanted to remember the good times, of which there were many. When we think of her we will think of joyful smiles, a lovely laugh, feisty one-liners and a loving heart. Hers will be a bright star in our memories. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 25 at 2:00 p.m., Kamloops United Church. In lieu of flowers donations to the RIH Foundation (c/o 311 Columbia Street, Kamloops, B.C.) or the Kamloops Hospice Association (c/o 72 Whiteshield Crescent South, Kamloops, B.C. V2E 2S9) will be appreciated. Thanks to all friends and family who visited, kept in touch and offered their prayers.
