THELMA IRENE BILYK 1924 ~ 2009 Thelma Irene Bilyk of Kamloops passed away on June 7, 2009 at the age of 84 years. She is survived by her daughters Shirley Thorpe of Armstrong and Carol Kicey of Armstrong; 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and eight great great-grandchildren; sisters Bernice of Armstrong and Margaret of USA, and brother Ed of Kamloops; and she will also be missed by her many friends. Predeceased by her husband Alex and daughters Cathy and Pat. Thelma was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on December 29, 1924 to George and Rhoda Drinkle. She was raised in New Westminster, BC and married Alex there in 1948. Thelma lived in Kamloops more than 40 years and liked to stay involved in the community. She was a lifetime member of the Royal Purple and an active member of Desert Gardens. An avid crafter, Thelma was also known as a social butterfly and was loved by all who knew her. The family would like to offer special thanks to all of her wonderful friends at Ponderosa, and also to Nurse Betty for her loving care of Thelma. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 15th, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Vern Frudd officiating. Following the service, Thelma will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery.
