Hazel Evelyn (nee Thomas) Clark

Hazel Evelyn Clark (nee Thomas) died peacefully on Thursday, December 4, 2008, in her 97th year. She was born July 28, 1912 in Pointe Claire, Quebec, the daughter of Elsie (Bettington) and Charles Thomas. She lived her early life in Montreal, coming to P.E.I. as a bride in 1944. Hazel is survived by her sister, Gwen Glencross, Montreal; her daughter Sue (Ted Kelly) and son Rodney (Jennifer Argles), Suzanne Stewart; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband J. Arthur “Art” Clark (1982); her sisters, May and Edna and her brother, Ted. Hazel, will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, a community volunteer, a business woman, an avid antique collector, quilter, rug hooker, bridge player, keeper of family history and hostess extraordinaire. Her life was always conducted with grace and dignity. Her family would like to thank Dr. Ron Nicholson, the staff of Andrews of Summerside, her caregivers, Merna Kelley, Pat Woodall, Linda Pickett and her special friend, Lois Cormier, for their dedicated support over recent years. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be at Moase Funeral Home, 150 Summer Street, Sunday, December 7, from 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Summerside, at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 8. A celebration of Hazel’s life will be held at her cottage at MacCallum’s Point in July of 2009.
