FRANKLIN E. BLANCHARD December 21, 1922 ~ May 14, 2009 Frank passed away on May 14, 2009 at Capilano Care Home in West Vancouver. The family wish to convey their heartfelt thanks to the staff there who gave him wonderful care. He will be sadly missed by his daughters Brenda (Kevin) and Patricia, son Gerry (Barbara); grandchildren Darcie, Stephanie, Andy, Laura and Lee; great grandchildren Paige, Teagan, Devan, Jake, Taylor, Amelie, Chelsea and Tommy; sister Daisy (Francis McKee, brother George, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife Marie, sisters Lucy, Clara, Genevieve, Gertrude "Trudy" and Eva and brother Claude. Frank was born in Sonningdale, Saskatchewan to Blanche and Perry Blanchard. After completing high school he worked for a short time in Vancouver and then joined the R.C.A.F. in 1940 and remained overseas as a navigator until wars end. After the war, on arrival in Kamloops, Frank's first venture was part owner in the Royal Café. Then he and Claude bought a general store in Chase. Following that, he and Marie had the Avenue Lunch and the Highlander Restaurant, and along with Francis McKee, the David Thompson Motor Inn. Frank and Marie built the Vernon Travelodge. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2009 in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel, 285 Fortune Drive, with Pastor Len DenBraber officiating.
