Jean Leigh

Born in Ilford, England, January 10, 1927. After emigrating to Canada from the U.K. in 1972, Jean worked as a housemother for the National Ballet School and her 60 boys at Upper Canada College. The joy of her life was working with young people including Scouts and Soccer clubs. She was also a foster parent in the U.K.
Jean retired to Victoria-by-the-Sea, "The most beautiful place on earth" where she lived until moving to the Prince Edward Home. She graduated from UPEI with a BA in History in 2001.
A strong supporter and patron of the Arts, Jean could be seen frequenting the P.E.I. Symphony, dance umbrella, and numerous concerts and shows. She loved all music, especially Traditional Celtic music and enjoyed Scottish country dancing and singing with the Confederation Centre and Legion choirs.
Jean spent her last years with her P.E. Home family where she was active in the Residents Council and is survived by her loving cousins Pat Phillips, Kathleen West, U.K. relatives and adopted "Granddaughter", Julia Sauvé.
An interment service will be held at the Crapaud People's Cemetery on Saturday, August 25, at 11 a.m. with reception to follow at 26 Howard Street in Victoria.
Arrangements entrusted to Dawson Funeral Home, Crapaud.
"Still are thy pleasant voices, thy nightingales, awake. For death he taketh all away, but those he cannot take."
