LARSON – Edna Bernice Larson ~ 1922 - 2012. Edna Larson (nee Peterson) passed away at the Maple Creek Hospital Sunday, August 19, 2012 at the age of 90 years. She was predeceased by her mother Eileen Peterson (Main) in 1950 and her father Berger Peterson in 1952, her sister Elaine McCulloch in 2002, her brother Walter Peterson in 1983 and her brother Lawrence Peterson in 2005. She will be dearly missed and warmly remembered by: her sister Amy Lauridsen-Hoegh of Vancouver, her children Penny (Wilf) Parsons of Maple Creek, SK, Joan (Norman) Fahselt of Creston, B.C. and Erling (Anne) Larson of Nanoose Bay, B.C.; her beloved grandchildren Jason (Dee), Jeffrey (Samantha), Lyle (Jennifer), Dayle, Brad (Andrea), Michael (Tanya), Marla (Sean) and Paula and great grandchildren Austin, Mackenzie, London, Emily, Sarah, Morgan, Danni, Masha, Bari, Demi, Clare and Abigail. She was born on February 16, 1922 in Abbey, SK and spent her early life there. She was married to Lyle (Bud) Larson in Regina during the war, where she was a sergeant in the army. Following the war they moved to Cabri, where they raised their three children. During her 30 years in Cabri, she was involved in many activities and worked at several businesses. She moved to Calgary in 1977 and continued working there until her retirement. In 2010 she moved back to Saskatchewan to be near her daughter Penny in Maple Creek. Edna was highly spirited and energetic. She put her heart and soul into everything she did. She was a tireless volunteer in many associations, clubs and the church. Throughout her life she enjoyed and excelled at golf, curling and needle work. However, bridge was her lifelong passion and other players quickly became aware of her competitiveness and expertise. When a challenge presented itself, she would always rise to the occasion and her favorite saying was: "Any job worth doing is worth doing well." Edna was well liked and held in high regard by her many friends who she faithfully stayed in touch with. She was known for her funny stories and her frankness, both of which occasionally pushed the envelope. She loved her friends dearly and was always creating excitement for and with them. Family was of the utmost importance to Edna. She took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and cared profoundly for them all. She cherished the times when she could be with all of them. Her 90th birthday celebration was made so special by all the family and friends that attended. The family would like to extend special thanks to the home care team in Maple Creek who provided such loving care to Edna in her last months. A celebration of Edna's life will be held at the Maple Creek United Church Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Southwest Integrated Healthcare Facility c/o Meyers Norris Penny - 42 Pacific Ave., Maple Creek, SK S0N 1N0.
