HARRISON It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard (Dick) Montague Harrison on April 29, 2009 at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, B.C. Dick was born on August 4, 1926 in Sudbury, West Suffolk, England. He is survived by his loving wife Nancy of 48 years; his children Rosalee (Glenn) Johnson, Donna Fraser, Edward (Patty) Smith of Big Lake, B.C. and Jim (Brenda) Harrison; his grandchildren Brent Fraser, Russ (Jaime) Salonen of Grand Prairie, Alberta, Jennifer (Scott) Macfarlane, Tara-Jean (Bill) Dick, Spencer and Bradley Harrison and Dallas, Eric and Stephanie Smith; as well as his great granddaughter Reese Salonen; and also his brother John Harrison of Enderby, B.C. Dick was a loving father and grandfather to all of us and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Dick was predeceased by his parents Montague and Audrey Harrison. Dick came to Canada as an 11 month old baby and grew up on a ranch on the One Mile Valley near Princeton, B.C. He went to Chesterfield School for boys in North Vancouver, B.C., and then joined the army in January of 1945; being the end of the war he never went overseas. Dick sold the ranch on the One Mile and moved to Louis Creek, B.C. in 1950 where he ranched until 1965 and then moved to Westsyde with a young family. He worked in laying pipe for a large area of North Kamloops and went on to run various heavy equipment while road building and dam building at Red Pass on the Yellowhead Highway, Mica Dam at Revelstoke, Fleur Utah at Port Hardy, Highland Valley, Brenda Mines and also worked on crusher jobs for the railway on various job sites throughout the province. Upon his retirement Dick was an avid photographer, and fisherman and enjoyed his many friends whether he was out having coffee, walking and or riding his bike. Dick was an active member of the Union of Operating Engineers Local 115, he was on the Barriere School Board and was a Charter member of the Barriere Legion Branch 242. From cowboy to road builder. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, June 7th at 2:00 p.m. at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church at 364 Fortune Drive, Kamloops, B.C.
