DYCK, Katherine (Rempel) passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2012, at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK. Katie was born on August 14, 1926, in Rhineland, SK, the tenth child in a family of twelve born to Maria and Bernard Rempel. The Rempel family later moved to Hamburg, SK, where Katie attended the Hopefield School. She enjoyed school there, and in particular, the Christmas concerts which involved memorizing long recitations and plays. Katie also enjoyed sports, taking part in races, ball throw, etc. After completing Grade 7, Katie became a nanny for other families who needed help. Caring for children became part of her lifelong calling, as many, including grandchildren, can attest. Katie continued her education by taking a sewing course in which she excelled. She used this practical skill to later provide clothing for her own children and for many others as well. Katie was baptized in the Sommerfeld Church, Rosenhof, SK in 1948. She was united in marriage to Jake Dyck on August 10, 1952, at the Sommerfeld Church, Rosenhof, SK . She later joined the Rhineland Christian Fellowship Church. Katie enjoyed the church fellowship there until 1967, when the family moved to Swift Current. She, along with her husband and family, started attending Fairview Bible Church, a sister church to the Christian Fellowship Church. This became her home church family until her passing. Katie leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Jake, of Swift Current, SK; her children, Roberta (Robin) & Harry Friesen of Gouldtown, SK and their family: Rosella (Rose) Davison and Mike Reimer of Swift Current, SK and their family: Randolph (Randy) and Lynda Dyck of Regina, SK and their family; her remaining siblings, Frank Rempel, Helen Funk, Margaret Hildebrand and Ann Bartsch; and many other relatives and friends. Katie was predeceased by three infant children, Raymond, Rhoda and Regan; two grandsons, Darren Friesen and Jona Davison; her parents, Maria & Bernard Rempel; her brothers, Bernard, David, Peter, Johann and George Rempel; and by her sisters, Elizabeth and Maria Funk. Although Katie will be sadly missed, her family takes comfort in knowing she is resting safely with her Savior. The Funeral Service was held on Monday, August 20, 2012 at 2:00 pm from the Christian Fellowship Church, Rhineland, SK, with Pastor David Pollard officiating. The pianist for the service was Sandra Rempel with special music brought by McKenzie & Courtney Funk and by Donovan Epp. “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” and “What a Day That Will Be” were sung by the congregation under the direction of Donovan Epp. Tributes were shared by Frank Rempel, Margaret Hildebrand, the children and grandchildren, with the obituary read by Donovan Epp. The Interment Service was held at the Rhineland Cemetery, Rhineland, SK, with the following serving as pallbearers, Tim Pelletier, Michael Davison, Donovan Davison, Kolin Dyck, Konrad Dyck, Brad Funk and Donovan Epp. In memory of Katherine Dyck, donations made to the Cypress Hills Bible Camp, Box 786, Maple Creek, SK, S0N 1N0 would be appreciated by the family.
