RIDDLE Following a lengthy, courageous struggle with a chronic progressive lung disease, Erin passed away peacefully at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops on April 23, 2009. She was predeceased by maternal and paternal grandparents and her mother, Kathleen. Erin is survived by her loving partner Steven Schultz and his family who all took her to their hearts, her father Jim Riddle (Joan), brothers Jim (Nicola) and Mark (Angela) and the "lights of her life", nephews and nieces: Jamie, Mike, Katie, Matthew and Brennan. Everyone Erin met knew in a very short time how proud she was of them and how much she loved them. Kozmo Kramer shared Erin's life from kittenhood through the 12 past years. He's been bewildered by her recent absence but has not missed the dress-up sessions! Erin entered this life "kicking and screaming" in Edmonton in March of 1969. She had the usual childhood experiences of fighting with brothers, hangin' with cousins and friends, going to Brownies and Guides and being "dragged" to all her brother's hockey games! Her schooling took place in Kamloops at Kay Bingham, Brock and lastly NorKam where she graduated in 1987. After Grad, she worked at Tod Mountain, spent a fall and winter in Banff, then moved to the coast where she began working for Great Canadian Superstores in 1990. She worked in Surrey, Langley and Chilliwack and transferred to Kamloops in 2001 working here until deteriorating health forced her to go on LTD. Erin collected friends all along her way but met the most important person in her life, Steve, four short years ago here. Steve and her good friends have been rock solid supporters. When fate switched her from the mainline of life onto a sidespur of doctor's appointments, hospital stays and medical procedures, they hopped aboard, sharing the triumphs and the terrors alike with her. Thank-you to all especially Vicki, Joanna and Toni - the things you've done have been huge. We all were "phenomenally hopeful" that a lung transplant would materialize and allow Erin to stay with us. Tragically, that hope ended today for us. Erin possessed great generosity and a giving spirit. In honour of that, the greatest gift anyone could give in her memory would be 3 minutes of time spent registering online as a BC organ donor. Should friends desire, donations to the BC Transplant Society or the BC Pulmonary Hypertension Society would be appreciated in Erin's memory. We also thank Dr. Michaud, the incredible staff in ICU, Dr. Nair and hospital staff who looked after her care on 3W for the past 7 weeks. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Paul's Cathedral, 360 Nicola Street, Kamloops, BC followed by a reception in the adjoining church hall.
