SHIRLEY SCHMIDT After a courageous six year battle with Multiple Systems Atrophy, Shirley H. Schmidt of Kamloops, BC peacefully went to be with the Lord Jesus at home on April 20, 2009. She will be deeply missed by her husband, LaMont, the love of her life for nearly 50 years; their three daughters Glenda, Denise and Janell; sons-in-law; and eight grandchildren. Shirley was born to Henry and Susie Smit on November 24, 1942 in Lynden, Washington. She loved the Lord Jesus. Her greatest desire and achievement was being a good wife, mother and grandmother. She served the Lord her entire life and loved her family very deeply. She enjoyed baking, decorating at Christmas time, and packing "shoe boxes" for needy kids with her grandchildren during the holidays. Shirley loved caring for others and putting them first. Shirley was especially loved by her grandchildren, with whom she created many wonderful memories in the kitchen, around the table at family meals, or playing games during family visits. The family would like to thank Dr. Takahashi and Dr. Bantock for their kind and compassionate care; Di Penner, Joelle Remillard, and Melissa McRae for their loving care, generous time, and friendship. The Memorial Service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2009 in the Kamloops Alliance Church, 233 Fortune Drive.
