It is with deepest regret that we, the family announce the passing of Clifford Burke, 82, on Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at the Waterford Heights Care Facility in New Waterford.
Born in Lingan, he was the son of the late Matthew and Amanda (Kelly) Burke.
He was a former member of the Parish of St. Joseph’s in Lingan, and also at one time a member of the Lingan Men’s Club. Cliff was a retired coal miner working in No. 16 and No. 12 collieries, Cliff enjoyed the quiet life, he loved skating and going to the local arenas
Left to mourn his passing is his sister, Eunice, Lingan; sister-in–law, Christina Burke, New Waterford; special friend and nephew, Winston (Rhona) Burke, Lingan; nieces, Joanne, Sandra, Patsy, Shannon; nephews, Warren, Floyd, Sheldon, Glen, Terry, Larry and many great friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Ignatius, Jack, Frank, nephew, Wesley; brothers-in-law, Tony Burke, Joseph Penny.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford (862-7500). A funeral mass celebrating Cliff’s life will take place Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard’s with Fr. Paul MacNeil officiating. Interment will be at a later date. A luncheon will be held immediately following at the parish hall, St. Agnes Centre, 310 Convent St., New Waterford all are welcome.
