Harley Dennison Ross, age 87, of St. Croix, Hants County, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 22, 2012. Born on September 20, 1924, in Windsor, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Aubrey and Etta (Cochrane) Ross. Harley was a hard working farmer all his life. He is survived by his loving daughters, Cathy Ross, Ste. Croix; Betty (Kevin) Kelly, Brooklyn; Donna (Garnet) Harvey, Brooklyn; Phyllis (Stephen) Blanchard, Ellershouse; Cheryl Lowthers, Windsor; sons, Dwight (Vi) Ross, Newport Station; Richard (Gail) Ross, Newport Station; Mike (Janet) Ross, Brooklyn; Greg (Cindy) Ross, Poplar Grove; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Elda (Pat) Meagher, Lower Sackville; brother, Keith (Bernice) Ross, New Minas. Besides his parents, Aubrey and Etta (Cochrane) Ross; he was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, the former Vivian “Jackie” Marion Young (who passed away on her birthday, September 1, 2005); grandson, Trevor Harvey; sisters, Esther Sparks, Thelma Galley and Lena Mahaney. Visitation was 7-9 p.m. Saturday, August 25, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was 3:30 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2012, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Debra Mosher officiated. Interment was held in the Ste. Croix Cemetery, Cemetery Road, St. Croix. Family flowers only. Donation in memory of Harley were requested to be made to a charity of one’s choice.
