
Basil Townes
TOWNES, BASIL - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Basil Lambert Townes on August 27, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Basil was born on April 27, 1929. Son of the late Kenneth and Lillian (Blakely) Townes of Lawrence Station, NB. Survived by his son, Clyde Townes and his wife, Harriet of McAdam, NB; one brother, Orville Townes of Lawrence Station, NB; sister, Rita Dickinson (Ed) of Andersonville, NB; sisters-in-law, Annette and Margaret; five grandchildren, Jayson (Jennifer), Megan (Stewart), Lindsay (Jamie), Clayton and Laura; eight great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Lillian of 55 years; daughter, Lavina; brothers, Murray and Elton. Basil retired from C.P. Rail in 1986. He enjoyed his family, camping, playing and listening to country music, and loving his dog, Bam Bam.
Resting at the Voice of Pentecost Church, Harvey Rd., McAdam, NB where the funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Stephen Tompkins officiating. Visiting hours will be held at the church on Wednesday, August 29 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Interment will take place in Rockland Cemetery, McAdam, NB. A special thank you is extended to the DECH, doctors, nurses and Extra Mural program. For those who wish, remembrances to a charity of one's choice would be appreciated by the family.
