On Jan. 11, 2010, surrounded by family Joseph Wilbert Martell passed away peacefully at the age of 87. Born in Sampson’s Cove, Cape Breton, Sept. 21, 1922, he was the son of the late Henry and Delina (Landry) Martell. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 47 years, Bertha (nee Briand), and by brothers Clarence, Leander, and sisters Irene (Martin), Katherine (Gallant), Bertha (Dorion), and Delima. Wilbert was such a loving, kind soul with a wonderful sense of humour. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is in our hearts and prayers, and has passed on to a restful place. He will be truly missed by Irene, George, Gerald, Rosalyn and family, Sandra, Pat and family, Douglas, Robert, Patrick, Brenda and family, Pauline, Gill and family, Harry, Shirley, Nathalie, Johnny, Gaetan, Renee, John, Tina, Jerry, Pat, Chris, Robin, Bernie, Shawn, Brandon, Jonathan, Jason, Douglas (Jr.), Teri-lynn, Lynn and numerous other Briand, Martell, Gallant and Martin family members and friends. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff and friends at the ParkHill Place Retirement Residence, and the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, for all the comfort and care they provided. A visitation service will be held Thursday, Jan. 14, at 7-9 p.m. at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, and funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 15, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home chapel.
