It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Joe MacAdam, 78 years, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Steve and Mary (MacDonald) MacAdam.
He was employed for 48 years at Progressive Wholesale Ltd., Sydney.
Joe was a member of Sacred Heart parish.
He had been a resident of the MacGillivary Guest Home for the past five years.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Evelyn (MacKenzie); daughter, Charlene (Chris) Pickles, Coxheath, and two beautiful grandchildren, Danielle and Callum. Joe is also survived by brothers, Sandy (Norma), North Sydney, Donnie, Windsor, Ont., Harold, Grand Mere, Que.; and by sisters, Christine (Ed) Henderson, Oakley, Calif., and Sally, Montreal. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by his sister, Catherine ‘Kitty’ Brown, Truro.
Visitation will be held today (Thursday), 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. The funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, Jan. 15 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Reception to follow at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel.

Walking With Grandpa
I like to walk with Grandpa, his steps are short like mine.
He doesn’t say, “Now hurry up!â€
he always take his time.
Most people have to hurry, they do not stop and see,
I’m glad that God made Grandpa,
‘unrushed’ and young like me.
