NIELSEN – MR. SIGURD, late of Prince Albert, SK passed away on January 10, 2010 in Prince Albert at the age of 84 years. Sigurd was born on October 18, 1925 in Torring, Denmark. In 1929 he emigrated to Canada with his mother, sister and brother to join his father who had left for Canada in 1926. He grew up on the family farm and following a short term of service in the Canadian Army during World War II he returned home and eventually brought the farm from his father. Sigurd married the love of his life, Anne, on November 14, 1973 and together they farmed until retiring to Prince Albert in 1992. The light went out of his life when Anne passed away in June 2009 and we take comfort knowing he is happy once again to be with her. Sigurd was also predeceased by his parents, Anders and Maria Nielsen; his sister and brother-in-law, Signe and Viggo Jensen; his brother, Jens Nielsen; nephew, Harald Jensen and Anne’s brother, Frank Hancock and sister-in-law, Monica Hancock. Left to mourn his passing is his sister-in-law, Gloria Nielsen; Anne’s brother, Charles Hancock; her sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Dennis Moore; her sister-in-law, Jean Hancock; as well as Sigurd’s many nieces and nephews.

He has found sweet rest at last.”

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 16, 2010 in Northern Funeral Service-MacKenzie Chapel, 130-9th Street East, Prince Albert at 10:30 am with Dennis Serfas officiating.
