It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Anna Lewis. Anna died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at the Cove Guest Home, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Sydney Mines, Anna was the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Ferguson) Ferguson.
A loving wife and mother, Anna’s life was devoted to her family and her church. She was an active member of St. Giles Presbyterian Church, North Sydney, where she sang in the church choir and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. In her earlier years she enjoyed bowling and skating.
She is survived by her husband, Dan Lewis; her four children, Kenny ‘Hummer’ (Laurie), Coxheath, and their children Andrew and Jason, Nancy (David) Snow, Moncton, and their children Matthew (Heather) and Jeffrey (Courtney), Sandy ‘Duke’ (Raylene), Millville, and their children Steven and Michael, Norma (Shawn) Connors, Hammonds Plains, and their children Ian and Kevin, and one great-grandson, Elijah. Also surviving is her sister, Dru McPhee-Potter, Bridgewater; and brothers, William (Betty) Ferguson, Gordie (Betty) Ferguson, both of Sydney Mines, and Bruce (Yvonne) Ferguson, North Sydney; her sister-in-law, Bernice Ferguson and brothers-in-law, Sandy MacLeod and Jack Evans and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sisters Christine MacNeil, June Evans and Peggy MacLeod and brothers Rod, George and Donnie.
Visitation for Anna will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from St. Giles Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ritchie Robinson officiating. Burial in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Giles Presbyterian Church, Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or the Cove Guest Home.
