Brewer, Donald Cleveland - 70, of Kennetcook; passed away Friday, August 24, 2012 at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Halifax, he was a child of the late Nathan and Nora (Swinamer) Brewer. Don loved fishing and hunting, as well as carpentry and was always helping others with their carpentry needs. He also drove for various taxi companies in Halifax prior to his retirement. Don is survived by loving daughters Pamela Brewer and Belinda Brewer-Young; brother Sonny Brewer; sisters Doris Marriott, Helen Lutz, Pearl MacIntyre, Ruth Hines, Shirley Robinson; grandchildren Justin Brewer, Breanna Brewer, Megan White and Jacob Brewer; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends that were like a second family to him. Besides his parents he is predeceased by brothers Doug Brewer, Murray Brewer, Victor Brewer, William Brewer, Gerald Brewer; sisters Emma Umlaw, Margaret Walker, Nora Brewer and Hazel Brewer. The family would like to thank the Palliative care staff, Doctors, Nurses and hospice wokers for the compassion, comfort and professionalism shown to their dad during his illness. Keeping with his wishes there will be no service. A memorial reception will take place Tuesday, September 4, 2012 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at 6939 Noel Rd., (corner of White Settlement Road) Kennetcook. Donations in Don’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Nova Scotia Lung Association.
