The death occurred peacefully at Notre Dame Convent on Monday, March 24, 2008, of Sister Geraldine Handrahan (Sister Saint Leonard Maureen) CND, age 71 years. Predeceased by her parents Joseph Levi and Mary Alice (Ahearn) Handrahan; by her brothers Edgar, Ernie, Hubert, Roy and James all of Tignish and Leigh of St. Catherine's, Ont.; by her sisters Ester Harper (Frederick deceased), Teresa Wosley (Edward deceased), Hilda Karkus (William deceased) and Mabel Smith (Lorne deceased). Survived by her sisters Marguerite Gavin (Walter deceased), Doreen Tucker (Franklin), Frances leClair (Bradford), by her brothers Leonard (Doreen), Chester (Lena) and by her sisters-in-law Inez Handrahan and Ida Handrahan, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Resting at Notre Dame Convent, 246 Sydney St., until Wednesday at 10 a.m. then to Our lady of The Assumption Church, Stratford for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment later in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown. Visitation Tuesday, at Notre Dame Convent, from 2-4 and 7-9. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly, to the Church Restoration Fund of St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
