1920-2010– Peacefully at Bell Island on Jan. 12 at 89 years. Beloved wife to the late Harry Tucker. Loving mother of Tolson (Betty), Alamena, Elaine (Granville), Dorain (Don), Harry (Patricia), the late Glennis (Jim), Morley, Keith (Deb), the late Tyronne (Ita), Sharon (Rolland), Maureen (Dan) and Charles (Joan). Grandmother of 25 and great-grandmother of 33. Predeceased by her parents Mabel and Henry Pottle. Dear sister of Genevieve Jones, Maizie Bishop, Irene Ruth Pottle, Raymond Pottle and Malcolm Pottle. Her life was peppered with hardship and heartache but she worked very hard raising her 12 children. She was a faithful member of Jackson United Church serving in the choir and the UC Women, as well as the Ladies Auxiliary and the Masonic Ladies of Clift Lodge #10. She enjoyed working as chief cook at the Dosco “Staff House†in the mid ’60s. She loved to sing and dance and was very pleased when she won “NFLD’s Greatest Folksinger†contest on CJON radio in 1970. She will be remembered as an avid gardener, and she enjoyed pickling and hours of knitting in the front porch. Sincere thanks to Dr. Laurie, and the staff at Dr. Walter Templeman Health Centre for their care and compassion. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at Jackson United Church on Sat., Jan. 16th at 2 p.m. with Interment at the Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory to Jackson United Church would be appreciated. Reception at St. Michael’s Hall following Inurnment.
