It is with heartfelt sadness the family announce the passing of Allister Wadden, Grove Street, Glace Bay. Allister passed away on Friday, Jan. 15, 2010 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
He was born on Scatarie Island, Cape Breton, but spent most of his life in Glace Bay. He was the son of the late Charles and Theresa (Trimm) Wadden. He was employed for many years with Devco Railway as a brakeman and conductor. His passions included woodworking and carpentry. He designed and built his own boats. His joy was creating something beautiful. He was an accomplished musician and enjoyed playing the accordion and fiddle for family gatherings and friends.
He will be sadly missed by his loving daughters, Beverly (Dennis) Dean, Linda Wadden; sons, Billy (Michele), Jimmy (Philly), all of Glace Bay, cherished granddaughter, Nicole, great-grandsons, Gregory and Colby; sisters, Mary Hall, Yvonne (Joe) Campbell, of Main-A-Dieu, C.B.; brother, Lloyd (Terry) Wadden; sister-in-law, Effie MacAulay; brother-in-law, Inglis MacAulay and friend and companion, Lillian Smith, of Glace Bay
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Sara ‘Bebsy’ (MacDonald) Wadden; sisters, Beatrice, Theresa, Margaret; brothers, Michael, Charles, Stanley, Gerald, James, Sylvester, Cletus and great-grandson, Devon.
Visitation for Allister will be held Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Anthony’s Church, Glace Bay with Fr. Conrad Edwards officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay.
