O’Hanley, Marie Margaret (Dickie) Brenton - Brookfield, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2010 in Williams Country Home, Hilden. Born on June 4, 1921 in Lower Truro, she was a daughter of the late Angus and Bertha (Moore) Dickie. Marie’s teaching career of 35 years, gave her joy as she interacted with her primary class in Brookfield Memorial. Every summer she could be found at “The Camp†digging in the dirt or picking berries. Marie was an avid bowler, card player and she loved to dance. She had a competitive edge that made interacting with her fun. She was a member of the United Church and a life member of the unit 2 U.C.W. She was deeply dedicated to her church work. Marie is survived by sons, George (Ronda), Gerald (Sandra); daughter, Elaine (Gerald) Ross, all of Middle Stewiacke; brother, Don (Therese), Truro; sisters, Annie, Brookfield, Jean, Wallace; sisters-in-law, Joyce Snow, Saskatoon, Eileen Dickie, Amherst; step children, Judy (Greig), Hammond, Dartmouth, Suzanne (Keith) White, Windsor Junction, Owen (Alison), Terrace, BC; nine grandchildren, two step grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by husbands, Alden Brenton and John O’Hanley; brothers, Yuill (Greta) Moore, George Dickie; sister, Dorothy (Howard) Carter; brother-in-law, Don Blaikie. Special thanks to the Palliative Care Team, V.O.N. and Williams Country Home. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 6:30 - 9 p.m., Monday, January 18 with memorial service at 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 19, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. Private family interment in Middle Stewiacke Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may made to the Knox United Church or Middle Stewiacke United Church.
