MORECRAFT, CALVIN HAYES - It is with sad hearts that we announce the death of Calvin H. Morecraft of Harvey, York Co., NB on September 10, 2012. Born at Harvey, York Co., NB in 1938, he was a son of the late Gray and Reta (James) Morecraft. Calvin owned and operated his own business for over 50 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, snowmobile, go four-wheeling and camping. He particularly enjoyed his hunting camp on the Morecraft Trail. Calvin was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Harvey Curling Club, Lake George Snowmobile Club and the Masonic Lodge #50. Calvin is survived by his wife, Martha (McVicar) Morecraft; two sons, Barrie Morecraft (Leisha) and Martin Morecraft, both of Harvey, NB; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Morecraft-Melanson (Don), Harvey, NB; grandchildren, Matthew (Jessica), Jesse, Candyce (Adam), Lacey (Nicky), Madison, Jacob and Dawson Morecraft; great grandsons, Ethan, Alexander and Logan; a brother, Berton Morecraft, Old Ridge, St. Stephen, NB; several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Lorrie Morecraft.
Visiting hours will be held at Swan Funeral Home, 1826 Route 3, Harvey Station, NB on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Masonic Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 6:45 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, Harvey, NB on Friday, September 14, 2012 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bonnie Wynn and Rev. Mac Campbell officiating. A reception will follow at the church. Interment will then follow at Magundy Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Vaughan Schriver, Ed Mosley, Junior Stairs and Hazen Thomas. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons, Matthew Morecraft and Jesse Morecraft. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to make a donation in memory of Calvin, the family has suggested the NB Lung Association.
