GRAND FALLS, Nfld _ It is with great sadness the family of Alastair (Al) MacDonald announces his passing on Monday, January 11, 2010 in Grand Falls, Nfld.
Alastair was born in Thorburn, Pictou County on November 4, 1937.
He was the eldest son of the late Absalom and Myrtle MacDonald, RN.
Al spent his early years in Thorburn and attended EPRH. He was transferred many places with his occupation ending up in Grand Falls where he married and raised his family.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Helen; daughters, Lesa and Nadine; son, Andy and three grandchildren. Al is also survived by his loving brothers and sisters: Sondra (Mike) Lank, Cuddy (Carole), Ernie (Connie), Greg (Kim), Grace (John) Maxwell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by daughter, Margaret; brother, Ivor; and sister, Maureen.
Funeral service was held Thursday, January 14th in Grand Falls.
Donations in Al’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Ivor MacDonald Memorial Rink.
