It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Ada at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney, on Monday, Jan. 18, 2010.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (MacKeigan) Ferguson.
Upon completion of training at St. Rita Hospital, Ada was employed as an X-ray technician at Pt. Edward Hospital, until her retirement. She and her late husband, Carl owned and operated Standard Office Supplies and Cameo Card and Gift Shop, in Sydney.
She was a 50-year member of the Rt. Honourable Vincent Massey IODE Chapter.
Ada was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her brother, Kelly (Gerry) Ferguson and sister-in-law, Mary Ferguson. Also surviving are nieces, Lucy MacKinnon, Jane Brown and Nancy Tynski, with whom she resided for many years, Margaret Sharpe, Ann ‘Sis’ Courtney and Heather Ferguson; nephews, Charles, Stuart, John, Raymond, David, Kelly and Bradley Ferguson. Ada will be remembered by her lifelong friends, Lyda Hollohan, Jeannie Sutherland and Annie Schella.
Ada was predeceased by her husband and best friend, Carl, as well as brothers, Charles, Stewart, Donald and Johnny; sisters, Crisella MacInnis and Mae MacDonald; niece, Heather Acres.
Special thanks to the staff at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, who took such good care of Ada over the past few years. Thanks, also, to the palliative care team who supported Ada.
There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, 10 a.m. at Sydney Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Robert Lyle officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
