Barbara Dianne (MacPhee) MacLellan, 60 of Northside East Bay, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Whitney Pier, she was raised by the late James and Elizabeth (Delaney) MacPhee. She was a longtime resident of East Bay. She had a great love for her family and friends, as well as her past co-workers at Keddy’s and Rita’s Tea Room and her little buddy Jake. She also had three very special friends who she called her own, Lauchie, Marley and Malcolm MacDonald.
She is survived by her two sons, David (Lisa), Sydney River, Alex (Jolene), Front Lake Road; their father John James MacLellan; grandson, Blake; granddaughter, Courtney; friend, Linda Rafuse; brother, Fred (late Joan) MacPhee; sisters, Kay (late Alec Joe) Aucoin, Ann May MacCormick, Dorothy (Tom) Corbett and will be sadly missed by Margaret MacLellan and family.
She was predeceased by her son, John James ‘J.J.’; brother, Joe (Rita) MacPhee and sisters, Margaret (Ross) Rouleau, Theresa (late Hughie) Poirier and Diane (Gerard) Chiasson.
Visitation will take place from 1 p.m. until funeral time at 2 p.m. at St. Anthony Daniel Church, Sydney on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010 with Rev. Donald MacGillivary officiating. Burial will take place in East Bay Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Riverview MacLellan Family Scholarship Fund or to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Cancer Unit.
