SUSAN RUNNING July 15, 1957 – January 15, 2010
“Did I tell you today that I love you?”
Susan Running – to her children
It is with heavy hearts that we must share the news of the passing of a wonderful wife, mother, sister and extraordinary friend. Susan is lovingly remembered by her husband, Albert; daughter, Amanda and favourite son-in-law, George; sons, Jackson and Spencer; brothers, Lance (Eileen), Mick (Carol) and sister, Georgia; brother in-law Brent (Kathy) and sister-in-law Carol (Dale). Her nieces and nephews will dearly miss their funny Auntie Sue's presence. To her many friends, she is irreplaceable. Susan was predeceased by her parents, Dennis and Grace, and her infant son, Landon. Where to begin? Susan was passionate about LIFE! Her first and greatest love was her family. She volunteered at school, baked treats, carved pumpkins, dressed up in costumes and never missed a dance recital or a game of any kind. Family ski trips to Panorama were a major event and Mother/Daughter camping trips brought new meaning to being at one with nature! Who sings going UP the mountain? Sue was as happy hiking in Northern Saskatchewan and chatting with the chickadees as she was swinging from the trees in the jungle in Belize and swimming in the ocean. And everywhere she went, she loved meeting new people. In Susan's first forays as a fitness instructor at the YWCA, she made many lifelong friends – despite gruelling (but fun) workouts! Her fabulous wit and keen sense of humour drew people to her – she was a “punny” girl! She golfed and curled and loved the “bonspieling”. She was an amazing hostess, decorator, and gardener. She loved a house full of people and “mi casa es su casa” was often heard in the Running home. Susan was passionate about everything – but music was in her soul. She shared her gift with the church choir, she sang for many a friend's wedding, and karaoke – well, that was the best! Good music and good fun. Sue was a huge fan of Jazz Fest where she and Albert were volunteers for many years. So many concerts, so little time. Susan forged strong friendships. She appreciated the good qualities in people and she told them so. So many have said that they have been blessed to have known her. Special thanks go to her sister, Georgia for all of the time she spent with Susan, helping to keep the house, decorating for Christmas “Sue-style”, and for just being there. Thank you to all of those involved in Susan's care. A celebration of Susan's life will be held at Meewasin Valley United Church in Saskatoon on Wednesday, January 20th, 2010 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saskatoon Cancer Centre or a charity of your choice. Condolences may be sent to mail@saskatoonfuneralhome.com Arrangements are entrusted to SASKATOON FUNERAL HOME, 244-5577.
