Marie Eileen (Curry) Donovan, born April 1, 1932 in Windsor, Nova Scotia, died August 23 in the High River Hospital, Alberta, in her 80th year. She was the eldest daughter of Arthur Churchill Curry and Marion Alice (Lockhart) Curry, of Falmouth, NS. Marie had a most interesting life. She attended Falmouth Valley School, Windsor Academy and Edgehill School for Girls, and the Provincial Normal College in Truro. Teaching was her first love. Letter writing and penmanship were arts that Marie excelled in. She taught overseas for DND, thus developed a love of art history, design and silversmithing. While teaching in the Canadian west, she married Lyle Donovan, Mossleigh in 1967, and they farmed together there for the next thirty-five years. She was predeceased by her husband Lyle in 1996. She is survived by her daughter Pamela Donovan and Ian Donovan, MLA and eight grandchildren. Marie was predeceased by her brothers Leon, Charles, Arthur B., Eric, Cyril and Richard. She is survived by her brothers Bernard (Shirley), Falmouth, NS, Thomas (Marilyn) in Clareshom, Alberta; and sister Elizabeth Curry also of Falmouth, NS. Many nieces and nephews all over the world. She wrote a history of her home in Falmouth in 1996; as she cared deeply for the land of her birth. Memorial donations may be made to Juniper Grove United Church in c/0 Mr. Larry Armstrong, 269 Town Road, Falmouth, NS. B0P 1L0. The memorial service for Marie was held in High River on August 29, 2012 from the United Church, 123 MacLeod Trail.
