It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the passing of Mary Isabel MacRae-Keylor, 60, of Glace Bay; in the loving arms of her husband John, at the An Cala Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012.
Born in Dominion, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Perses (Haley) MacRae.
Mary graduated from St. Michael’s High in Glace Bay and later received her Bachelor of Education from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish. She taught French for over 25 years in London, Ont.
Mary is survived by the love of her life, John Keylor; her children, Brandon Fraser, Edmonton, Alta., and Justin Fraser, London, Ont. She also leaves her sisters, Anne (Bruce) Hennessey, Grand Mira South, and Patricia (Darryl) Morrison, Mira; her brother, Ed (Linda) MacRae, Glace Bay; nephews and nieces, Ryan, Angela and Amanda Morrison, Donald and Laura MacRae, grandnephew, Landon and grandniece, Emma.
Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by a sister, Frances Cecilia, in infancy.
In accordance with Mary’s wishes there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Curry’s Funeral Home, Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be held Monday, Sept. 24, 11 a.m., at Holy Cross Church in Glace Bay with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Interment will be in St. Anne’s Parish Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Society or charity of your choice.
